Dharriwaa Elders Group Workshop - Connecting to collections

Kirsten Thorpe and Nathan Sentance presented information on Indigenous Services at the State Library to a group gathered at the Dharriwaa Elders Group (DEG) on the 18 May 2015. They were joined by musician Nardi Simpson and designer and artist Lucy Simpson who spoke to the group about making connections with Indigenous material within libraries, archives and museums.

Nardi and Lucy spoke out how material in libraries and museums can inspire their creative output by connecting back with local communities. Kirsten and Nathan discussed the Rediscovering Indigenous Languages project and provided information on how to access the collections of the Library.

The workshop was ultimately about connection. Creating connections with people and assisting people connect to collections in libraries, archives and museums.

Thank you to the DEG and visitors for organising the day and making us feel welcome!
